| Lion Foundation Rotorua Marahon | New Zealand | | Rotorua | Marathon | May | "The Rotorua Marathon proves to be a hardy event that continues to draw experienced and fresh runners and walkers to its picturesque course. In 2010 the marathon will be held for the 46th consecutive year, bringing all the wonderful historical elements such as the Friday Pasta Dinner, the Sunday Breakfast; the supportive and vocal locals out around the Lake whether at their own front gate or volunteering as part of a Drink Station ensuring you stay hydrated, or at the Energy Events Centre assisting to take off your timing chip, supplying your ASICS finishers shirt or hot tea, or cheerfully handing over the race number prior to it all beginning." |
| City of Christchurch Marathon | New Zealand | | Christchurch | Marathon | June | "The feature Full Marathon passed through the 15k mark with favourites Matt Smith (ChCh) and Jason Woolhouse (Melbourne) 1min ahead of Luke Hurring (ChCh), Matt Dravitzki (Wgtn) and Ethiopia's Wondwosen Geleta. Through Hagley Park at 19k Smith put some mild pressure on Woolhouse, who was forced to let go and by halfway 69min 22secs Smith has a 15sec lead, with Hurring, Dravitzki and Geleta 80secs back. But Smith, a former English rep who is now a NZ citizen, was too strong. In the cold conditions Woolhouse would fail to finish, but Smith actually ran the second half faster to win in 2hrs 18min 14secs. This made him a rare dual winner following his half marathon win in 2008." |

| Hawke's Bay Marathon | New Zealand | | Napier | Marathon | September | "The Club was founded in 1979, with the main objective to help people achieve to run a (half) marathon. This has for a few years now moved to the gentler objective to help members reach goals within their capabilities, which may or may not include a (half) marathon. This was also the main reason for the name change in May 2007. Our new name reflects much better what the club is about in this time of its history. We cater for both walkers and runners and both groups split up into subgroups on our weekly runs and walks, depending on your capability and ambitions. People of all ages and fitness level are welcome." |
| The Lydiard Legend Marathon | New Zealand | | Auckland | Marathon | September | "He has been the acknowledged world-leading middle and distance coach for the past half-century since his personal team of five unknown New Zealand runners swept up two gold medals and a bronze at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. His revolutionary marathon-type endurance training system, which hones athletes to their peak performance on the days they most want to be at those peaks, turned traditional training methods upside down. The next few years after Rome confirmed the system’s perfection as his runners, most from a small area around his Auckland home, dominated national and international racing, set world records and featured in world and Olympic championships." |
