| Tamarindo Beach Marathon Costa Rica Tamarindo Marathon September victor.lopez@tamarindobeachmarathon.com http://www.TamarindoBeachMarathon.com "The course has its start and finish line in downtown Tamarindo, site of the town?s future Sports Center. Tamarindo is one of the most popular towns within the coastal zone of the north pacific of Costa Rica, located in the province of Guanacaste. Runners will run through Tamarindo and the nearby towns of Villareal, Matapalo, Huacas, and Brasilito. The Second Edition of the IBP Tamarindo Beach Marathon was held on August 9, 2008, gathering more than 700 Costa Rican and international athletes. The competition was won by Kenyan Bernard Zongoka, with a finishing time of 2:36:00. The second place went to fellow Kenyan Moses Saina, who came right behind Zongoka, with a time of 2:37:53. In third place came Costa Rican Javier Montero, winner of the 2007 Edition, registering a finishing time of 2:42:53. The women’s first place went to Costa Rican Sonia Rojas, with a time of 3:28:16, followed by Cristina Mar?n (3:29:40), and Ana Luisa Barrantes (3:37:46)." |
