While Tallinn is tiny compared to these cities, it is still very rich and unique in sights – the Old Town, the city wall with its towers, the Freedom Square, the green parks and so on. Tallinn is an ancient and modern city between the East and the West. It is exactly this combination of ""old"" and ""new"" that the course of Tallinn Marathon will introduce. It is hard to describe the beauty of these sights – one must see them oneself which is why the marathon tourist has all the reasons to come to Tallinn and to enjoy the freedom of movement.The Tallinn Marathon predecessor, Tallinn City Run, was started in 2000 with the goal of promoting health sports and creating a well-managed modern running event. In the last five years Tallinn City Run has been one of the biggest Baltic running events. In 2009 the event was completed by 12 409 participants from 15 different countries. The SEB Tallinn Marathon is a health sport event for the whole family. In addition to the marathon distance (42 195 m) the event has planned a 10K city run that can be completed by running, walking or Nordic walking. There will also be running races for children." |
