In 1971 the Black forest Marathon was considered the biggest marathon in the world, as 1.500 runners were registered for the marathon. In 1974 the first official women's marathon competition took place in Braunlingen, unofficially women were allowed to complete at the Black forest Marathon since 1968. In 1975 the first German women's marathon championships also took place here. Since 1968 the event takes place on every second sunday in October and its preceding saturday." |
