Today we have had to become much more professional; everything is governed by regulations; administrative constraints limit our ability to get things done and use up a lot of our energy. Nevertheless, our enthusiasm is intact. The 1200 volunteers, the 48 members of the association and our 3 permanent staff are all proof of the good health of the organisation. Our goal of creating a clean marathon is not new. Since its very beginnings, the association has been conscious of the marathon’s impact on the La Rochelle environment and works hard to avoid leaving any unwanted traces, - particularly in respect of waste management. Since 2003 the Marathon association has attempted to transform the normal ‘good citizen’ approach into a deliberate and global policy of organising a ‘clean marathon’." |
